New Leaders
At the Annual Vestry meeting on February 4th, Mr. Paul LeMay was elected as our new People’s Warden, and Mr. Steve Newroth will be coming onboard Parish Council as a member at large. Mr. John Mitchell is the Rector’s appointee. Congratulations gentlemen!

New Small Group
A new round of small group opportunities will be on offer during Lent; beginning the week of February 21st. Bishop Anne has asked Anglicans across our Diocese to study a booklet called “Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John.” One group is available Wednesdays at 10am. (with Rev. Kelly, in Rector’s Office) and a second on Wednesdays at 7pm. (with Peter May, at their home). Sign-up sheets are on the bulletin board. If you are unable to join a group, you can follow along on-line at

Lenten Jars
Again this year the congregation is encouraged to collect loose change during Lent. Please look to see if your jar is here from last year. If not there are jars and labels so you can write on your name or envelope number and receive a tax receipt for all those nickels, dimes, loonies and toonies. Bring your jars to church on Palm Sunday (March 25th) for the grand round-up. We will also be looking for volunteers after Easter to join in a coin-rolling party!

Something New For Lent
This year St. Thomas’ is making the most of the “adult colouring” craze. Colouring sheets for each week of Lent are available for adults, youth and children to take home, colour, and then bring back for posting at the church. The theme is “Stations of the Cross”. This is an opportunity both for some creativity and for some meditative time with the images of Lent and Holy Week. Prizes will be given to one adult, one youth and one child! Judging will take place after the Easter Vigil (March 31st) over hot-cross buns.

DVD Sale
We have been selling DVD’s and it seems to be very popular. If you have any (non-violent etc.) DVD’s you wish to get rid of please bring them in and place them on the table at the side door. The proceeds go to the Messy Church Fund.

Mark Your Calendars!
Beginning Sunday, April 8th, Rev. Kelly will lead a course called “Christian Foundations.” It will begin at 7pm (following a brief service of evening prayer at 6:30pm) and will run for 12 weeks. This is open to the community at large, so come and bring a friend. Participants are invited to pay $30.00 to cover the amount of course materials however please feel free to come regardless of the cost. Come for coffee, dessert, and a very worthwhile introduction to the foundations of Christian faith.

Our own Rev. Barbara Graham is being named a Canon of the Diocese of Algoma! The installation service will be held on Monday, May 7th in Sault Ste. Marie. Rev. Kelly will be in attendance and all are welcome. Congratulations Barbara on this well deserved honour.

Update on Lion’s Club Dinners
We are in the process of working out the details for these dinners and have been told they won’t begin until next September. I will call a meeting of everyone who signed up sometime in June/July to organize who would like to do what. Thank you. Tracy

Members are urged to consider joining in one of our parish’s many ministries. Consider your God-given gifts. If you feel moved to help, please talk to Rev. Kelly, Tracy or one of our Wardens to see where your gifts might be used. Ministries in need of particular help at present include: Altar Guild, Messy Church, Welcome Wagon, Decorating Committee, Community Dinners, ACW.

You only have to donate the time it takes to buy the cards!! We all eat, we all buy groceries, we all have birthday, and we all buy gas. So why not buy your groceries with pre-paid cards for YIGS or Food Basics? You can get them right here at the church on Sunday mornings after the service or in the office during the week. This is one way that we can all contribute to fundraising here at St. Thomas’!

We now have Tim Horton’s cards in denominations of $15 or $25 dollars! Please see Tracy during office hours or Catherine Thompson and Mary Mitchell after Sunday service in Browning Hall. Doing a big spring home renovation? We have Home Depot cards too!

If you are a newcomer to St. Thomas. WELCOME!! Please join us for fellowship after the 10:30am service in Browning Hall. If you wish to give your address, email address and phone number so that we can add you to our Parish List, please place this on the offering plate or give it to Rev. Kelly. Thank you.
