In The Community

St Thomas offers the community essential pastoral services such as hospital and shut in visitations. We also have the awesome privilege of officiating life events with families during times of celebration (weddings and baptisms) and times of grief (funerals and sympathy teas). Rooms and halls in our building are made available for rent to community organizations and private gatherings.

We care for the community that we live in and have participated in past initiatives such as:

  • The Red Scarf Project (HIV/AIDS)
  • Sponsoring and welcoming refugee families to Bracebridge
  • Out Of The Cold (Poverty and Homelessness)
  • Orange Shirt Day (Indigenous Issues)

We have ongoing relationships with Manna Food Bank and Muskoka Interval House.

What's Happening Now?

We are represented on the recently formed Algoma Diocese Social Justice Committee. This group aims to go beyond charity to legislative change to address:

  • poverty in the north
  • affordable housing
  • food security
  • the living wage
